Unusually for an upcoming Samsung Galaxy smartphone we know for a fact that the Note 3 exists even before Samsung's inevitably glitzy launch. That's because of two semi-official 'leaks' in which Samsung whetted the world's appetite for the Galaxy Note 3.
In a report from our 'you-couldn't-make-it-up' correspondent, in early June Samsung Kazakhstan accidentally revealed the Galaxy Note 3 on its official website alongside the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablet. Just how accidental is such an accident I'll leave to your judgment. Not least because in May Samsung executive JK Shin confirmed that the Galaxy Note 3 was in the works, and that it will feature a non-flexible 5.9-inch OLED display.
Shin also suggested that the Note 3 will be announced at this year's IFA tradeshow, which runs from September 6 to September 11 in Berlin, Germany. Stay tuned to PC Advisor for live coverage of the launch and the only Galaxy Note 3 news and reviews you need.
Galaxy Note 3 UK release date
Our best guess for the Galaxy Note 3 launch date is September 4, the first of the press preview days before IFA kicks off on September 6.
It's unlikely that the Note 3 will be available immediately, however. If it does launch at IFA expect to see the Galaxy Note 3 in UK stores for October. Samsung will certainly want to make the most of the pre-Christmas buying advice, and in the past this is the cycle it has followed with products announced at IFA. Not to mention trying to compete with the launch of Apple's next iPhone.

Galaxy Note 3 specs
Thanks to Mr Shin we know to expect a 5.9-inch display with Super AMOLED technology, although the possibility of a 6.3-inch whopper has also been rumoured. And you can expect Samsung's fabled S-Pen to be present and correct.
We expect to see the Galaxy Note 3 matching the Galaxy S4 with an eight-core chip. Best guess is an Exynos 5410 Octa 8-core processor, although whether we'll see that processor in the UK is an interesting question, given that the S4 is 'only' quad-core on these shores.
We think the Galaxy Note 3 will be equipped with 3GB of memory, which should make it plenty powerful enough to run Android 4.2.2 (with Samsung's many bells and whistles). And expect storage options to be 16- or 32GB, with an SD card allowing expansion up to 64GB. Finally, expect the Galaxy Note 3 to measure 8mm in thickness and weigh in at 183g.
Galaxy Note 3 price in the UK
The Galaxy Note 3 will be a premium phone. Samsung is very careful to price its top of the range handsets accordingly. Typically the flagship Galaxy S- and Note- phones have similar prices, so we expect the Galaxy Note 3 price in the UK to be around £550. As with everything we've said in this article, we'll keep our ears to the ground and update as and hen appropriate.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to feature flexible screen
By Chris Martin - Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 3 phablet will supposedly feature a flexible OLED screen.
The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to launch later this and a number of details about the smartphone-cum-tablet have leaked. However, now the device is rumoured to use a flexible OLED display made from plastic, according to the OLED Association. See also: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs leaked.
The site said: "Samsung Electronics Company (SEC) will exhibit a new Galaxy Note 3, featuring an unbreakable OLED display at IFA 2013 in September and plans to launch the product in Q4'2013."

Samsung to use metal design for Galaxy Note 3
By Chris Martin - Samsung will reportedly use a higher quality metal design for its upcoming Galaxy Note 3 smartphone.
It appears that with the success of the HTC One, with its aluminium uni-body, Samsung is 'worried' about the quality of its own handsets. Samsung will be switching to a metal design and build for the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, according to SamMobile.
